Turbo Wide Body Conversion

Is there any way to have a 3.2 Carrera, which has been converted to wide body, to run without spacers and still have the wheels look 'right'?
I'm just thinking out loud at the moment and am not going to rip my car apart!

unless you want to spend $$$$$$$$$ on custom wheels/tires,.. then no.... I'm running 10" wheels on the back with 335 tires and still have a one inch spacer behind them.

Yes, if you get wheels that are made (either custom or aftermarket) with the backspacing that's required to push the outer rims to where you want them.

There is no other way.

The original RSR wheels had such backspacing and fit perfectly with no spacers; I had the numbers written down somewhere, but I've since lost them

I also wish I hadn't sold those wheels

Thanks for the info guys. I thought it might be tricky, otherwise everyone would do it, right?!

Richard,
Nothing serious at the moment, it's just I have seen a turbo body coversion with a G50 box advertised locally. I love the turbo look, especially after seeing Thom's recent work, but am slightly concerned about the spacer issues that have been mentioned before on this board. Ideally I could get a factory Supersport, but they seem to retail at around £20,000 and upwards for a G50 coupe! For that I could buy a good REAL turbo!

ah, thinking of selling your baby and upgrading - leaving the sc fold for a superior carrera

i must admit (but keep it quiet) i sometimes think i wish i had gone for the car i really wanted when i bought mine. it was an '89 coupe (G50) in dark blue with havana hide, gorgeous. 50k miles. alas it was £3k more than mine which was already £2.5 k over my budget!

when i have these thoughts i just try retail therapy

I have an '89 Turbobody Cabriolet which doesn't use spacers, however, I'm running custom 11" rears tho.
