fan worn?

I recently sold a fan which I acquired with some parts I bought here on the site. I sold the fan to a gentleman in Australia, who is having some trouble with slippage. Seeing the fan made it halfway around the world in 1 piece, we are both disappointed to see this. He tells me the mounting area is worn, can someone identify from these pics where the problem may lie? I have compared his fan to another which I have and cant see any difference. Where does the problem lie/are there maybe different pully assemblys? From what I can gather, the pully is spinning on the fan housing when tightened up. thanks Philip

The pics you posted do not show the worn area. Look where the outer pulley half would mate to the fan hub, and you'll see how it no longer has distinct corners... they are all rounded, causing the slippage.

They are worn over time from not having enough shims on the pulley. Must have a min of 6 shims.

Sounds like he didn't put the key on the shaft with the fan causing it to spin!!

The problem with the fan in question is not the keyway.
