Laguna Seca Porsche Weekend
Here's the line-up for our last race of the year at Laguna Seca.
We tried to call it the U.S. Porsche Invitational but the lawyers at Porsche would not agree to it. So, it's a Porsche weekend but with a slightly different name. We've got the first PCA Club Race at Laguna with no decibel limits, KlubSport Porsches (a mostly east coast Porsche group, great cars and close competetion), historic GTP cars including lots of 959/962's,Nissans, Jaguars etc. and a vintage GT group with 935's/934's etc. Should be a great weekend, we'll have a Porsche concours, vendors, swap meet etc. Put it on your calenders. Question from a foreign guy: Is Laguna Seca the same area as beautiful Laguna Beach and town?

Bill, both beautiful places but 320 miles apart. Laguna Beach is a great spot just south of L.A., kind of an arts community with lots of sun and great scenery. Laguna Seca is just outside of Monterey, about 90 miles south of San Francisco. We have cooler weather but fantastic scenery, great restaurants, California's sport diving capital and one great race track. Laguna Seca is inland about 14 miles and was started when street racing in Pebble Beach was banned in 1953. If you ever get to the States you should plan a visit, race tickets are no problem for visiting Pelicans.

Thanks Bruce.
I did a trip to the states years ago. I had a pretty good time actually. Spent a month in California, traveled by road from SF to Niagra falls, then spent 2 months in NYC. I was very much into art and architecture at the time so I expecally enjoyed NYC. Laguna bch is beautiful. I kind of enjoyed the big city atmosphere of SF and NYC mainly. I remember Carmel. I stayed at a camping ground nearby then had brunch in a cafe that had a gorgeous blond skinny chick with no bra and a semi see through top - yum. Now I'm into 911s I will probably plan my next trip around a big swap meet and seeing a race at one of the big name tracks. I tend to do a 3 month holiday every two years and take a year off work every 5 years, so I have plenty of time for these things. Have fun, Bill. |
