"Chrome window trim"
I'm in the process of installing chrome window trim on my 87 Carrera.
I have the pieces needed, but some of them need refinishing. Are these trim pieces Chrome or Bright Dip. Any thoughts on trim restorers? Chris Roseburg,OR |

Funny I want to go all black trim. The car came original black trim but one of the previous owners took a scrubby to the trim and it does not look terribly good - a lot of scratches. I just purchased some "shadowline" vinyl and will try that to cover over the shiney parts.

Chris, I seem to recall some less-than-happy reports about King of Trim, might want to do a search on them.
I'm considering this as a someday project as well. My understanding is that some (early?) had chrome-plated brass window frames, later cars were bright dipped aluminum. If you have aluminum frames, you'll want to anodize, I think, not chrome. |
FYI: My original 79SC chrome window trim is bright polished aluminum, probably clear anodized:

Where do you get the Aluminum bright dip trim pieces? I want to change out the black trim on my passenger side door to match the Aluminum bright trim on the rest of the car.

found mine here and at DC Automotive

Awesome to know I'm not the only one who prefers the bright trim to the blacked out one!
