Alternator rebuild- While I'm in there list

I'm getting ready to remove the alternator on my 87 911 coupe for a rebuild to correct an overcharging problem. I'll have bearings and bushes replaced while it’s out. Anything else that is worth doing while I have the alternator and fan, etc out?

Thanks

Full suspension rebuild?

A good shop will replace all of not most wear items on the alternator, including diode.

Spray the fan housing with a light coat of Rustoleum Matte Nickel Metallic brilliant metal finish - rattle can paint. Or a similar finish.

That and a 3.6 swap. :D

Seriously though,
  • Vacuum out any debris that has collected in the fan housing
  • Refinish the fan and housing (color coordinated, of course)
  • New fan belt

You guys kill me. lol

okay, check the ground wire for cracks or looseness or fouled connection, clean or replace if needed.

check for debris build up on top of the cylinder heads, clean and vacuum or blow it out the heads will cool better. That is pretty much all you can do wyait.

fancy ups would be powder coating or polish the fan and or housing ( you can check for cracks, I used QBond to help the cracks, but if you powder coat it will just melt off )

Thanks

I appreciate the suggestions (meaningful and, well, less so)! I needed a couple of laughs as I was planning on driving the car to Austin tomorrow for the Grand Am race. That's out, so I'm ordering my parts so I can get started when I return.

Thanks again!

Maybe change the sound pad, if needed?
