Help needed to get front lid open on early 911

I am unable to open the front trunk on my 69 911.

Never, ever had this problem before. The release handle will not budge.

Unfortunately, its been out in the weather for a few years, and the cable or latch may have frozen or rusted in place.

Thinking of a slide hammer to pull on the release handle, but don't want to break it.

Any suggestions from the experts here on Pelican?

I had to replace my latches on the front and rear hood. Haven't been able to get the front hood latch lined up so everytime I shut it there is only one way for one person to open the hood. The dash cable pull will disengage the safety so that the hoods pops open but I can't get the latch to unlatch. My solution is I pull out the cable as far as possible and put a clamp on the wire to keep the wire extended full. Then, I can go to the front and get the latch open. I use a clamp from a battery charger to hold the cable as it seems to be just the right size. Don't know if that'll help but it works for me.
I remember that there are several threads here that I referenced to end up with my fix. Some threads suggested drilling and cutting and drastic crap like that. Try some other solutions from other threads before surgery.

Try with two persons, one to pull the release cable and one tries to open the trunk
I have seen a diagram that explains where to drill some holes to open the trunk if the release wire breaks, but do not remember where.

You didn't happen to lock the handle before parking it did you?:)

Its a Targa with a lockable handle, but it is not locked and I opened it last summer and it was OK. If I break the handle/cable it should release on its own, but... should is the key word here.

Hate to cut into a good long-hood, but what other way is there. Perhaps drop the bumper and cut thru the front valence? Can I get the front bumper off from below?

I. Emergency Tricks for 911

A. Fuel Filler Lid Release

Get a flat cotton cloth shoestring. Slip it under the rear of the fuel door, hold both ends of the shoestring and pull it gently toward the front of the car. The fuel door will spring open.

You can practice this parlor trick anytime. I've opened mine with the bottom of my T-shirt as another emergency measure.

Carry a spare shoestring in your emergency bag.

B. Rear Deck Lid

Get a helper and while they pull on the release, yank up swiftly on the hood. It should let go after a few tugs. Then you can readjust the cable at the release mechanism to accommodate the additional friction from the new hinge placement.

My front trunk lid was stuck, and I tried using a cheap air bladder, like the kind used to separate a window to get into a car easily, and it popped open. It was easy and nondestructive. I doubt it will help all problems, and don't keep the bladder in the trunk...lol.

2 people. Have one push down on the hood while the other pulls the release......then....push the hood towards the passenger fender....down and left.......

Once, on my ‘68, a Lug wrench found it’s way into the slot for the front latch preventing me from opening the hood. I parked the car on a steep incline, nose facing up and bounced on the front bumper until the lug wrench slid out of the hole. Hope that’s your problem
