Odometer issue
Hi guys,
I just wondering which cable controls the odometer reading within the speedo? I have seen a few threads where people are testing that part of it with a drill bit. When i hook it up to the car, I can turn the dial and the reading at the base of the speedo will jump through the digits however when I plug it into the car & go for a drive, speedo works but the odometer or the reading at the base of the speedo doesn't tick over... Last note was that I replaced an existing miles/hr speedo to km/hr and the odo worked in the previous speedo so thinking it might be the gauge? Any advice would be appreciated. Thx |

Hi,
Unfortunately odo gear failure is common. There are some good threads and a Pelican Technical article on the problem at Pelican Technical Article: Odometer Repair - 911 (1965-89) - 930 Turbo (1975-89) Depending on the speedo you might be able to source a the odo gear in Australia. I fixed mine by following one of the threads. Regards |
