Just had new Toyo's installed and to my dismay, they could not get the camber anything more than minus 1.5 degrees. The car has been lowered to Euro height with the addition of 17" wheels. Does anybody know about a camber kit that would allow the true zero degrees camber to be achieved without grinding and cutting? Previous front tires were heavily worn on the "insides", so this was an existing condition...Thanks!

Do you know what the spec were with the old set up? -1.5 is perfect specs for hard driving. Toe out too much will also cause the inners to wear too quick if the old setup was negative, kind of a featheredge pattern.

hi
assuming your car is a 67-89 911, you may be able to get more positive camber by modifying the upper shock mounts in the following manner: Remove the shock mount from the strut Shave down the outer edge approx 1/2" in the center with corresponding straight from front to back. The cut piece will look like an orange slice. While the mount is out, spot weld the threaded nuts to the underside so they don't break out- a common problem when they get overtorqued Open up the square holes in the chassis (where the mount installs) towards the outside of the body (towards fender flange) Reassemble and get aligned. You should realize a decent gain in positive camber If that does not work, perhaps your struts were modified by a p.o. to increase negative camber- replace struts! And I agree with Dosie- the 1.5 negative is excellent for sport driving // the toe issue should be checked too Last edited by TRE Cup; 07-10-2002 at 05:35 PM.. |
