Front Bumper Rubber Trim Reinstall
Just finished my Elephant Racing oil cooler and fan installation. I removed the front bumper and lower valence to facilitate the install. Took me about five days (slow and steady). Put it all back together today and finished by slipping on the upper edge of the rubber trim of the bumper but could not hook on the lower edge back on to the plastic holder underneath. To anyone who has removed/reinstalled their front bumper - what are the tricks or tips to reinstalling the rubber trim?

I used windex window cleaner to lube up the rubber. The key is getting it started properly and then slowly working it across the plastic.
When I bought my car the previous owner must have not been able to get it put together properly, so you could see the epoxy squeezed out around the rubber. So I took it apart and fixed it. A year later I had to remove the bumper to do some other work, and sat there swearing loudly for a couple hours trying to get it back together. My wife asked if she could help, and I said "go ahead and ruin your day too." She got it on the first try. I must have warmed it up for her. |
