Steering wheel advice for blue interior

I have an 85 Targa with blue sport seat leather interior but the wheel is showing its age with west and stitching coming apart. Like the Prototipo but would prefer a blue shell. Any suggestions?

I've never seen that, but agree, a Proto with blue leather matching the seats would be really cool!

It would be pretty easy to do. The easiest would be to send it to somewhere like Dallas Steering Wheels, and they could redo it for you.

Or, you could do it yourself. I don't know if Dallas, or AGLA, etc. have that pattern (they probably do), if so, you could buy the cover from them, remove the original cover and stitch on the new one yourself.

If they don't, it wouldn't be hard to make your own, if there was a way to source the leather. You could remove the leather from the Proto and use it as a template for the new cover.

A simple three spoke like that is a pretty easy job. (The 4 spoke Carrera wheel is a bear to recover!)

The last way would be to get dye from somewhere like Leatherique and redye it. I don't think that would be a great way of doing it, though, because it would be hard (impossible?) to keep the dye off the threads. If you just redye over the threads, IMO it wouldn't look very good.

I once wanted to have a Mod07 wrapped to look just like a Prototipo. The quotes to wrap the wheel to match a Prototipo were more than double the cost of a Prototipo.
