Mechanics in Mid-West Colorado

Hey guys,

Just finished college at UNC-CH and moved out west for a bit to take a job with the US Forest Service. I'm sort of in the middle of nowhere, in Norwood CO, which is about 40ish miles from Telluride. Anyways, I drove from NC to CO in 2 days in my '79 SC and it performed flawlessly. I did a valve adj. at the shop I work at in NC and a few other things, it's only got 125k on it but I figured this would be a good resource if something "big" went on it in the near future. Oh and do any guys do anything Porsche related out here on the weekends?

Carl:

I am up in the Central Mountains (Vail). It is a bit of a drive for you but most people I know in this area use John Beckius at Sport Wheels in Glenwood Springs. He is excellent. I would think that there would be someone in Durango.

even a longer drive...but worth it for a good mechanic and outstanding PCA region events.
Russ Kelso here in Albuquerque is very good and you could have a nice vacation while here, maybe take in a autocross event at the same time?

Anybody else? I would hate to have to get my car towed 200ish miles to have some work done on it! k9handler tell me more about autocrossing and your PCA stuff.

sure thing...the region is the Roadrunner region, and pretty much there is some event about every 2 weeks. Tomorrow I will be in Santa Fe for another autocross...I will take a digital camera and post some pics for you.

Carl~
Wow Norwood?!!! Your Sc might be the first Porsche to ever enter that town, haaa. Welcome to Colorado.
I live in Durango. There are a couple of shops down here that do pretty decent work.
Animas Automotive, Bob Parks is a master tech, who worked for many years at a Porsche dealership.
I have used him for minor repairs & a 30K service. He is very meticulous. Another shop is Durango Small Car, ask for Steve he is the owner. The only work he did for me was solve a tire balance issue I had with my Fuchs. Took the time to do it right.
I have heard good things about On The Edge Performance in Colorado Springs. Many PCA members frequent that shop.
A bit of a haul for us on the western slope. Later this summer Iam taking my SC over there for euro specs. lowering & updated oil cooler install. No time to do it myself.
If you are ever in Durango look me up. Headed over to Telluride today for the adventure race, look for the blue targa TYPE911 license plate.

cheers,
Chris Latshaw
