Bolt-on fenders?
I recently came across a photo of TWporsche's car with bolt-on fenders in another post, the photo is reproduced below. I am considering doing this on my SC. I would like to see more photos of it, if possible, with front bolt-on fenders included.
I would like to hear from people about the pros and cons on such a setup, including wind noise, ease of installation, weight, benefit of removal for working on the car, etc. Also, does anybody know the suppliers that would have these? Thank you for reading.

Yeah those aren't 934 flares they go way too high up on the quarter panel they may be what Kevin said and they look like the edges were cleaned up real good and bolted on now they need to do something with the front.

They look like the Club Sport 993 fenders as sold by Getty. I have them on my 993 GT2 homage.
As it happens, a week ago I had them off of the car and tried them on the SC (no drilling just placed them on the fenders) just to see how they fit. They looked like they would do the job. Jim S.

Stunning car, those fenders look different in shape however, here's another pic of the car that I managed to dig up.
The idea that they are just bolted on turbo flares seems more likely, I'm gonna PM the owner of this car, hopefully he can chime in. Do you think bolted flares on an SC make the car less "classy"?

Please post the results of your search.
Classy? Who cares. I think you should mod your car as you like...I do and so does the Porsche factory.

To me those appear to be 930 turbo flares.

To each his own if you like it then do it no one else likes it then they don't have to look. Done right I think they look just fine but they must be done right or you have a car like some that get roasted on this site.

You will need bigger wheels and wider tires.

I'd be interested in confirmation of what they are as I have found I need more tire f&r. Functionality is #1 and I would like to stop short of installing new flares on the SC...bolt-ons would be a convenient solution.

Yes, I must confess that I do like the look and in my opinion it stops way short of the boy-racer image.
Still wish I knew exactly what these are and if a similarly "clean" bolt-on is available for the front. |

I think these bolt-on flares from Better Bodies motorsport are what you are looking for. Sorry I don't have any experience with the dealer, but the flares are simple and look decent. Hope this helps.

Just buy them in steel for the front and rear, get some 930 fender welting, bolt them on using the welting as a gasket, and you're done!

We're getting warmer. The flares at betterbodiesmotorsports look great, but they aren't the same ones as on the green porsche. You can tell because the shape of the fender is different, and the location of the bolt holes is different (further from the edge) - not to say that they wouldn't do the job or even be better, but now I'm on a quest and I'd still like to check the other ones out.

I'm reviving this old thread hoping someone new might know who made those flares. Best looking bolt on flares I've seen. I have an SC with a nice paint job and don't want to have to redo it just to get some fat fenders.

You're going to have to repaint anyway. You have to trim your current flares and seal the edges, then paint the new flares.

I'll 2nd (or 3rd) the Better Bodies
I bought their flares a few years ago and I'm still working on the project. The fenders are good and I'd go to Better Bodies again. I probably will, when I want to put a duck tail on my 76. one thing, the fenders are for pretty wide wheels, my fuch reps are not super wide so I had to trim and resculp the BB fenders I'm using the BB fenders as a master to make molds so I can make carbon fiber fenders. someday I will finish... |
