Feeling stupid...what is this part?
Just getting ready to bead blast a bunch of parts, get some plated and some powder coated (like my front A arms).
Anyway, in the pile of parts is this here bell-cranky sort of thing.....and I can't for the life of me remember what it is, where it goes or whether it is bent (should it be straight so the centre line of the small tube portion is parallel with the two ball pins????) http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1362870419.jpg Can anyone help with my temporary mind loss? Thanks Dennis |

They aren't exactly straight but can deform bend. I had one that liked to bend and get stuck when I stomped the pedal to the floor. Not a good thing.
Check this one to make sure it's not worn out. |
If you don't have the throttle pedal stop properly adjusted, you can easily bend this piece. For instance, if you remove the floor board which holds the stop. Amazing what force your right foot can place on the pedal if you are straining to go faster.
I learned this the same hard way Kugelfischer did. I had a good timed run going on the track, and whoa - pedal stuck at WOT. Ok, I'll just use the key for decel, and finish the run. Worked for one or two corners, and then it just broke off and I had to coast behind a convenient wall and be towed in later. I'd straighten it, and weld it some to strengthen it as well, just for good measure. |
