Thumbs up Seattle Historics Weekend Photos

The annual NW Historic Race weekend at Pacific Raceways near Seattle is over, and it was a great one. Near perfect weather, some fantastic race cars, lots of 911s, and a good crowd. I bumped into Glen, Eric, and Don and had fun talking 911s while we watched one of the races. Dan Antilla was there too. I heard Marc and Doug were also there, but missed them somehow. Here's the R Gruppe car corral with Scott Bradley's '73 RS look 911, my '72 RS look, and Brad Anderson's '70 911 E.

There were a couple of other early 911s there as well. Almost too good to be true - Two authentic '73 RS lightweights showed up in the car corral! A Tangerine one came on Saturday and a White with Blue Carrera stripes on Sunday. Neither owner knew about the other car or that another lightweight would be there!

Emory Motorsports from Oregon supported some great early 911s in the medium bore class. Lots of vintage mods have been made to the 911 racecars in this class:

What a great weekend it was. Thanks to everyone who stopped by the R Gruppe car corral to say hi!

That's Brad Anderson's Irish Green '70 E. I believe Paul will be bringing his car to Portland's Historic Races next weekend. I'll miss that one unfortunately...

Thanks, Noah. Here's some more - that's Derek Bell's signature next to the plastic tank in the white RS Lightweight.

Oh, how boring Zzzzz. Just another round of Randy's usual photography...EXCELLENT! Now I'm getting fired up about going to the big city of Portland on Saturday...many of the same cars will hopefully show.

Wow, look's great! Sorry I missed it, sounds like a great time.

Paul, why not bring Leland on Sunday? That sounds like the big day for Portland. Unfortunately, I can only go Sunday, so I'll miss you if you are Saturday only.

Great photography as usual, Randy- a couple more for the screen saver!

Randy,
A friend and I spent both days at the track.
After we had breakfast on Sat morn with a bunch of guys who also went to the race (incl. John Walker who popped in), I never saw any of you. I had my arse parked in the Turn 2 area both days. Lots-o-action from that vantage point all weekend long.
I did see you driving #51 around on the parade laps, however.

Of course, on Sunday afternoon, the rains (as in deluge) came and washed out the final race.
The Blue Bomber had to dodge the lightning bolts all the way back home. Good thing high voltage is my speciality.

Wow, Doug. My wife and I left in the early afternoon Sunday, so we missed the storm. The Sunday parade laps sure were alot of fun for us R Gruppesters , got into the higher RPMs of 4th gear on several occasions. Best of luck with your meet next weekend, post some pics when you can.

Dave, I'm not really sure when Lee might show up after the SC fling up in the great white North...but do want to be here in case he shows on Sunday. After all, I did promise him a driver's seat time in an old 911S. Scant reward for the time he spent for us all, "playing in the sandbox". If I understand things, he'll have his "reliable" SC on a trailer, so that alone could cause logistics problems. I figure I'll let him unhook, leave the trailer in my back yard...since all my cars are 2 passenger as well. So..maybe you & I will get together next year? I get the feeling, Dave, that you are like my former self...work...it's the curse of the wannabe leisure class! Work...the 4 letter word that mostly explains the low mileage of my car. But I'm trying to make up for it in my elderly years...

Doug? Yes, I missed. Awww...*****! 23 is too young to lose a parent. My dad & mom both passed when I was in my 40's. Lee? Damn...too young! Both of you! You and your dad...Hugs and sympathy. My thoughts & prayers...damn...I never could say or write the right thing at times like these...

Randy-

Great photos. As always, the R Gruppe was well represented. I am just mad that I missed the two `73 RS's that showed up!

Doug-

Glenn, Don, and I looked all over for you guys! Oh well, we'll be seein' ya next week at the round-up anyhow.

Oh, and here's some more pics to clog this thread!

Great pics, Eric. Have you ever thought of changing careers?

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Leland. I also missed this earlier post.

Thumbs up

Randy-

Thanks man! Wow, what a compliment, especially coming from the local Photo-Guru! Anyhow, I have actually got a few things printed (skydiving magazines mostly), but still consider myself an amateur when it comes to photography. Although, if you ever need an assistant on a shoot/assignment, I'd be happy to help out!

P.S. -

We still need to do that Seattle all-day karting thing one of these days too!

Hey, Chris. You're welcome of course. It was nice to finally meet you.

Good to see you on this board - your knowledge would be most helpful to all of us here. Post some photos of your work in progress if you feel like it...
