need a pic of an installed single inlet muffler

Hi There -

Bottom line: I want my 3.2 louder.

I have been contemplating cutting open the stock muffler and doing some gutting. I made a 2 in 2 out sport muffler for my 914-6 and loved it, but welding that double walled muffler casing was a b!tch. I am sure I never got all of the pin holes filled. Lots of work.

I know that the Bursch mufflers are considered lower end. My car is a fair weather driver, so I am not concerned about rust, and quite frankly, I love the simplicity of the design. However, it appears that the main muffler is really visible below the valance - but I am not sure by how much.

I went throught nearly the entire "butt's" thread, but I cant tell what it a bursch and what is custom in many cases.

Anyone have any pics of a 1 in - 1 out installed ?

Anyone ever remove the primary muffler and replace it with an additional glass back (like the older versions)?

Thanks -
Scott S

Scott,

Have you seen this guy's website? He has some pretty interesting exhaust ideas. You have to sniff around a little.

InstantG's Home Page

Also, in storage, I have a nice condition factory 3.2 muffler I gutted. My stock SC does not have the beans at the high rpm range to make it sound good. It's beautiful up to 5k then sounds boy racer. More noise than music. I don't have much in it so will let go cheap - would beat your investment of cutting up another one. Also ran it with an open by-pass pipe.

the dansk sport muffler is a good choice with a 3" out pipe, plenty loud and no drone with euro pre muffler

1 in 1 out

Here is my 1 in 1 custom sports muffler bought here at PP classified. It's loud but not so obnoxious and importantly I got it cheap. Rumbling sound on low RPM similar to a Subie STI (low bass tone) and throaty on 3500 up on a stock cat.

Size and weight is less half of the OEMs. I offered this for sale but decided to hold it until my new exhaust arrives. Maybe I can offer it thru the Muffler Loan Program soon :D

I was thinking of cutting the OEM muffler in the middle and make it a 1 in 2 wherein the out goes at the middle like the GT3 style M&K.

Woah, is that a 3" inlet / outlet with the gap from the 2.5" pipe filled in with weld?

That is pretty slick - I love the simplicity. Please drop me a PM/voicemail when you get close to selling it.

Thanks!!

If you want louder try M&K 1in/1out with M&K pre-muffler. Really good sounds. Love the setup on my 3.2. Easy to install and they send you everything you need with free shipping.

Almost a month after I ordered, its finally here. Too bad, I'll be leaving the country tonight and won't be able to install it. Looking forward on projects waiting for me on my April 25 return.

I have a 1 in 2 out with a Fabspeed Muffler and bypass pipe in my 3.2 powered SC. It is loud, but it sounds great...!
