Wire running across top of window frame under targa seal
Im just in the process of replacing my targa seal with a new dan the man version.
I have found a wire running under the seal that is glued all the way across the top of the window frame, in the targa seal channel. Its just got dark so I didnt have much time for investigation. Presume its for the heat sensor that sits bang in the center. My concern is that it will stop the new targa seal from sitting properly. What is its purpose would like to remove it. Cheers Ed |
Please post a pic during the day, if you are talking about the windshield front seal, there should not be a wire of anykind in the channel.
If on the Targa bar, also none. |
If it is a light grey (almost white) single wire, then it is probably for the interior sensor for the automatic heat control, if your car has that option. Remove the wire and the controller won't work.

As Draco said, there should be no wire under that seal. Javadog is correct that the autoheat thermostat runs under the vinyl on the inside of the car in that same area. If I had to guess, I'd say someone bought a replacement windshield without an integrated antenna, and then hid one under the seal.

Does it look like a telephone cord? Hardwire for a Valentine 1?

Hmmm interesting.
I do have one of those sensors just by the rear view mirror, but on first view doesnt look like its attatched to that. I wouldnt be suprised if its a part of the aerial. Will investigate more / take picture tonight. Sydney time. Work is so inconvenient. Ed |
damn bills :D

Mystery wire ran across the window frame and ended both sides. Glued in place probably as part of an old aerial. Case closed. Wire removed.
