'83 Canister - Right Real Wheel Well
I have a canister mounted in my right real wheel well.
![]() One connection to the canister goes to the diverter valve which is part of the air pump assembly. My air pump has been removed but the diverter valve remained, apparently performing no real function. So it would seem that the diverter and the canister could be removed, capping the line that goes to the front of the car from the canister. What is the canister? Is it ok to remove the canister along with the diverter valve capping the check valve as well? |

charcoal canister (prevents fuel vapors fumes from venting to atmosphere). there are lots of posts about whether it is good idea to remove the vapor recovery system which you can find in a search.
