"911 Shop" in Charlotte, NC

Does anybody know these guys or the quality of their work? I want them to do a PPI for me.

I don't personally know any of the guys there.

I live in Charlotte. If you want me to take a look at a car for you to give a general idea of it's value and condition let me know. The 911 shop is near where we do a weekly training criterium. They have quite a few wrecked 911's in the back. Funny, I never think of them when I think of Porsche..Stuttgart House of parts in Mooresville has a stronger reputation ($$$).

Sorry if I'm rambling...just finished a 425 mile round trip drive after conducting a wine dinner in Wilmington, NC

Terry Sossoman is the owner of the shop.
He has performed the service on my 911 Turbo since I purchased it 2 years ago.

Terry is a good mechanic.

He is a curmudgeon, and if you speak to him on the phone he may sound downright mean at times (that's typically your first impression), but he's a good guy and a good mechanic.

Jim Burton at EuroWerks is another mechanic in Charlotte that you could use. I do not have a phone number handy for him though.

Good luck.

Brian

Brian's description of Terry at the 911 Shop is pretty accuate. 704-596-1302. He is by reputation, the best 911 wrench in Charlotte. He is also very busy and may not take time for a PPI. Also, he avoids MFI, in case you are looking at an early car. I have also heard good things about Jim Burton but I have never used him. I think he is actually in Concord, a few miles up the road.

You also might want to try Dan Middleton at Touring Car, 704-821-7023. He works on a lot of vintage Porsche 911's and BMW's and also stays pretty busy. The guys at Stuttgart Haus are about the nicest you will meet, but I CANNOT recommend them.

911 shop

I have not had work done on my car by Terry, but I have talked to him on the phone mutiple times. He has always been extremely helpful to me and if you call and get his machine he will return your call immeadiately. He is extremely busy though. I also like guys at Stuttgart Haus in Morrseville, very nice, but I believe they may be a little high in price. I also don't think Stuttgart Haus has nearly the same work load that Terry does. Which car are you looking at here in Charlotte???

I've never dealt with them, but I hear Hendrick Porsche in Charlotte is well respected nationwide.

911 shop

used terry for years and never had a problem. took my car off the road in 95 so have not been back there. just put it back on the road and if i have anything major thats where i'd go.
one thing i will say is i had hot start trouble in the late 80's and i mentioned it to terry. he said the only way to lick the problem was to go through all the valves with gauges to determine what was leaking or needed to be replaced. well i justed lived with it until a neighbor saw in the vertev catalog that a fuel accumualator may solve my problem. well it did and i've always wondered why terry didn't know that.
used PAS once but was not a good experience.

Terry has been a big help to me with my early 911. Always straight forward and helped sort out a few problems. But like Hal says, not sure if he does PPIs. I don't know what model 911 you are looking at but he does not do much with later model cars. And never anything but flat 6 cars.

Jim Burton's number at EuroWerks is 704.888.5553. He is in Midland, near Concord and used to work at Hendrick.
