Hello! New to forum, sort of.
Hi Everyone,
I've been browsing here for quite a while, building the knowledge and confidence to tackle some small projects on my 1978 911SC. Thought I should finally introduce myself after learning so much here. Here's the story: I've had the car since summer 2010. My first car (yes when I was 16) was a 1975 911S Targa Sportomatic, in a color I think might have been called Burma Red (read Orange). At that time my dream car was a Silver SC. Fast forward many years. The Targa is long gone and I'm driving a practical import. My brother owns a small shop in California. Every time I'd go home to visit I would see a dirty but beautiful SC sitting on his lot, seemingly abandoned by a customer. Come to find out, the owner replaced it with a Subaru and pretty much left it there. After many attempts, I was finally able to communicate an offer on the car. I could only offer what I could afford, so I didn't get my hopes up. The phone rings a week or so later with a counter offer and the car is mine! Dream come true! My brother updated the chain tensioners and tie rods, changed out the fluids, etc, and with a new set of tires the car was ready for the drive home. Anyway, I've enjoyed reading posts here for quite a while and look forward to more involvement in the future. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1363389039.jpg |
Welcome!
And if you go to the regional section of PP, you'll find a PNW section. In SW, every Sat., they have a Coffee and Cars gathering. I have been able to go to one of them so far, but it was pretty nice to meet some other Pelicans. Soon, PDX will have some great driving weather. Have you had a chance to drive up McKenzie Pass, east of Albany? Sure, it's closed until July, but try it in August - if you haven't already gone. I also like some of the roads out toward Mt. Hood. Near enough for a nice Sunday drive, but far enough out so you can leave 84/205/5/405 traffic behind. :) Love the car, and hope I see you sometime at a coffee and cars. |

Beautiful and classic! I'm in love with my SC as well, and it too has many small projects to accomplish. What are some of the projects on yours?

Just installed new 930S steering wheel, as the covering on the original one was peeling apart. Recently did a clutch adjustment. Some day I want to replace or re-cover seats, and change out carpet.

Nice score! It looks great in silver with the shiny window trim.
