85 911 coupe concerning play in throw out bearing release shaft
The shaft that holds the clutch release lever on the bottom and throw out bearing fork on the top is able to be moved down app. 4 mm. once I've taken the release and adjusting levers off. Once it has moved down, I can slip the release lever on and move it back and forth 7-8mm.. I'm figuring this isn't a good sign. Looking for some confirmation from the experts whom have opened these 915s up.
I think it is perhaps the dowel pin on the shaft at the throw out fork. Is there anything to stop the shaft from totally dropping out if that pin were to break or drop out? I just ordered parts for replacing the helper spring and was under the car tonight when I made this discovery. I can push up on the shaft and the clutch release lever is unable to be wiggled. I'm mystified and hoping for the best. Thanks |

i doubt the roll pin broke and if it did the shaft would come all the way out.

Thanks I kinda figured that too looking at schematics of it. Thing is, does a good/working one move up and or down?
