Sunroof Question

PO had removed sunroof headliner (have to assume it was in shreds), and am wondering how to replace. I've purchased perforated porsche headliner material, but looking at the frame and some pictures raises questions.

First, the frame looks like the headliner was at one time glued to it. If this is the case, the np...I got this thing wrapped. but...

Second, I broke a cable last week (repaird with JB weld...works great!), and while reading the directions for taking out the sunroof, it says to pull the headliner from the clips in front and fold it back. Here's where I get confused....if it's glued, how can this be?

Am I just missing something here, and bit slow? I don't know what it looked like, so I don't know how I should make it look. Anyone out there pulled out their sunroof lately...how did it look?

thanks in advance!

My frame is covered in the headliner material and has front and rear leading edges and frame sides that fit into the channels. The front edge has square holes that accept about six clips. These clips push up thru the common square holes in the sunroof. If there is loose glue you should see the ones in the roof under the edge of your headliner. I hope this helps...the last one I did was a '81 SC. Unless everything is fresh, then each time the roof closes it tries to peel the sunroof portion off. Your PO used the 3M fast tack method. Wayne probably has new clips or location for them

pop the clips loose in front, with a putty knife, and slide the headliner frame back into the pocket. remove the 8 bolts and brackets, (the 2 rear plates, under the bolts, have to be slid toward the center to release the brackets under them), and lift out the sunroof panel. remove the few screws along the rails, so they can be lifted and spread enough to remove the headliner frame. glue on the liner, and reassemble.
