Rear Fog Light on 87-98 Carrera
Has anyone other there successfully installed a rear fog light on a 87-89 Carrera? If so, how did you wire it?
It appears that the wiring was changed from that on the earlier Carreras when Porsche integrated the fog light(s) into the rear center reflector). On the earlier ones, the wiring for the rear fog light was part of the factory harness. There was a taped off wire at both the left rear and at the fog light switch (the taped off wire at the switch stalled me a bit when installing the light on my 84). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

I'm a little "foggy" on this, but I think the last time I had my rear bumper off, there were small wires with plugs wrapped around the bumper shocks, which I assume would plug into the rear center reflector.

If your car is a USA car (non-ROW) the wiring is most likely not for a rear fog lamp. USA cars did not come with a rear fog lamp. I have a ROW 911 (Euro) and it does have the mounting holes (left side) where it was before it was converted as per DOT standards. As for the wire, it was removed, but it would not be hard to put one back on. question ? Why would you want to place a rear fog light on..?

Are you referring to the fog light hidden behind the rear panel reflector? or separate auxillary fog light mounted to the bumper? I don't have an answer for you, but was wondering if on '86 cars if there is a fog light recepticle behing the reflective panel? Thanks MIK |
