gas line/ steering rack/ master cylinder cover thingy

In an effort to remove my gas tank to clean and seal it, I had to remove this cover plate.
Does anyone know what it's official name or part # is? I searched but couldn't find anything. I'd like to coat it with Por-15 and put new rubber strips on the front and back edges.

Or should I just leave it off altogether? (i'd rather not....when I removed it, I discovered the best preserved area of my car...so it must work pretty well).

thanks,

The 'official' name is "Protective Plate" (how original!!) and the PN is 911 341 161 02.

I have not get there yet, I have started the POR-15 from the rear of the car, so I cannot give you a 'comparative' example on how bad (or good) is mine.

Hope this helps

Thanks Jordi.
The "protective plate" is pretty rough, but the floor pan above it was very well preserved. With the rubber seals dry and cracking, it might be cheaper/easier to just get a new one, if readily available.

I have used POR-15 on mine and it still looks like the day I painted it. The seals are available, I've even seen new ones on eBay though I'd check with Pelican first- they probably carry them.
I think your car looks very clean, looks like there's even some of the original cosmoline in the wheel wells.

Speaking of cosmoline, I got under a new GT2 at the local dealership last week and talk about cosmoline, you could barely see the details of the engine for all the gunk sprayed all over it.
What's the deal with that stuff? Do they spray it on for corrosion protection/warranty purposes or what? How'd you like to have that job at Porsche- funk sprayer.
