				AZ Pelicans, January drive

			Let's pick a date! I was thinking Jan 19th or 26th.

Route: Meet in Wickenberg Head NorthWest on the 93 Make a right turn on the 97 (fun, twisty gradual ascent with lots up humps and dips) Right on the 96 towards Kirkland junction (More fast and open with a sweet 7ish mile climb in the middle) Through Kirkland and right on the 89 to hit the twisties between Willhoit and Prescott. Lunch and fuel in Prescott then back to town. This link has some data on the less traveled roads between Wickenberg and Willhoit: Heart of AZ 124 by mtbkracr at Garmin Connect - Details I was thinking feet on the pedals and engines turning to depart Wickenberg at 8:30 so we don't get home too late. What say you all? Does anyone know of a good place to meet up in Wickenberg?

Sounds like a fun route. I might be able to do the 19th. I'm not going to suggest any dates because I work two weekends out of every month and I've got family commitments on another January weekend. If it falls on a date that I can make, I'll try to make it.

I lived in Prescott for many years and currently work in Prescott Valley. Keep in mind that if there has been any recent snow and ice that the county will apply magnesium chloride onto the roads. Driving through that stuff will give you nice application to the underside of your car, the last place you want it.

Thanks for the tip Kurt. I'll start doing a little homework on a contingency route in case the weather isn't super.

If Prescott might have experienced snowy, crappy roads, the lower elevations on the roads you suggested should be fine. You could have lunch in Bagdad, I think there was a PCA run that stopped there and had lunch recently.

Good idea. They have some kind of 50's diner there by the gas station.

Does the 19th work for everyone? (except for those that can't make it on the 19th, Duh)

Lets meet at the Horseshoe Cafe (207 E Wickenburg Way Wickenburg, AZ 85390) and depart Wickenburg at 8:30. If the weather is good, we'll keep the original route. If it's crap we'll keep it below the snow line.

				Join the Worldwide Pelican Posse

The Northern AZ weather will be perfect! The 19th is a good date for a beautiful driving day. The Worldwide Pelican Posse started in Prescott about 18 years ago with three or four like minded drivers and today is in Australia, France, England and several states in the US. The "Posse" is growing steadily. While not directly connected to the PCA or Pelican Parts we are loyal to both. We are interested in attracting other "like minded, spirited" drivers to participate in this unofficial, localized in your own area, opportunity to drive with others you can trust. Wine and cheese touring is not a consideration for the Pelican Posse. Love to drive your Porsche like it was designed to be driven? The Worldwide Pelican Posse is a way to meet up with compatible drivers with an eye on sport and safety.

Worthwhile groups are getting harder and harder to find nowadays. Liability and other concerns are causing them to go away. This unofficial tag is your link to like minded driver’s in your area and around the world. Our setup is designed to provide a camaraderie that allows us options to make our own choices. "Pelican are very like minded birds. They fly in a safe formation and virtually never cause a problem for other birds. They watch out for one another and always know what the bird in front of them is going to do. There is no designated leader and their destinations are eclectic... It's all about enjoying the day and riding the jet streams...
