Why is the offer attractive? Want a sporty driver, plus cash? Is that the goal? Why not a less expensive Porsche, plus cash?

I don't know the condition of your S, but even assuming very average condition, that does not seem like a very good offer.
The early 240Z is a cool, fun car, but does not command that much $$ on the used car market, even in very nice shape. |

Carlo, as much as I enjoyed my '72 Z (which I only gave up because it got totalled), it is no where near the complete enjoyment I get out of a 911. Also, I went to your webpage and from the looks of your car, $8K and the Z for your car is not a good deal. Here is a '72 in good condition on E-Bay right now and with 6 days left the bidding is up to an incredible $1900.00!

Maybe I'm late to the party here, but why do you want to get rid of your S/RS? -- Curt

Carlo,
Keith Martin, of Sports Car Market, the guys that track all auctions of collector cars, has a price guide for all collectible sports cars that is published annually. I have it in my hand now.. In this latest version he pegs the 240Z, 69 to 73 at between $6500 and $10,000. He also ranks them low on his collectibility scale (2 of 5 possible stars) and has them in category D as being FULLY valued at this time.. For comparison, your 72 S is in this same price guide at between $18000 and $25000, with a 5 star collectibility rating, and a B rating as "undervalued" at the current time. So if you had the worst 911 S around, and he had a REALLY REALLY NICE 240Z the math might be okay.... Does not sound like a good deal to me. How much for the Z outright? Maybe you can simply buy it.. Good Luck, ![]()
