Bid farewell to my first love today....

A big truck came and took her away....she was a good girl and my first...a sentimental moment... but going to a great new home. The buyer lost an identical car thanks to an inattentive truck driver and was very happy to find this rare car as an exact replacement....you have to think that with the rarity of an M491 cab, the value went up a little when his was caught in the crosshairs.

Now, for the brighter side.... my 27k mile 1996 993 C4S, black on grey shows up on a different truck this Friday. Pics to follow...

Pics of the sad farewell included...

good luck with the new one though!!
I cannot tell you how many days I say "I would own that one" and follow up with "i'm never selling mine"

tough call - I am sure it was/is a tough decision

That is/was a beauty. No way you could've kept them both? I keep telling everyone that my '87 Cab is my "first Porsche."

I pined over this particular model of 911 for 20 years, then owned it for exactly 2. What do they say...? Never meet your heroes?

Yes, the Pcar blood is running through me - this was only my first Porsche, for sure. I bought this one as a daily driver, which I did use for most of my 2 years of ownership. Then, got a job traveling a bit more, and always had a 'fleet' strategy to try to park this one as a garage queen / weekend toy. (In Texas the A/C becomes pretty important, and I could not show up to client meetings with shirts soaked in back sweat under my sports coat). So, bought an Infinity M45 for the daily stuff. All was good. Then, I missed driving the 911!! So, i thought, why not combine the good modern bits with the old driver 911 bits....? A 993!!! So, sold this M491, and now selling my low mile M45 (anyone interested?!) as well.

If ever there was a car that looks just as awesome in coupe or drop top, it is the 911 widebody. Timeless styling and pornstar curves that won't quit. Ya know how you can tell the designers got it right?
Because we can see the current day 911s is subtly reverting back to that iconic style.

Agreed. As you probably noted, my replacement is also a widebody! I took lots of pictures of the M491 before she departed, and interestingly, I could not seem to capture on film (chip) the extent of the beauty of the widebody. They are beautiful enough to understand in pictures, but the appreciation really does require the naked eye to pull in the range and depth of vision that jumps out of the design.

Congrats on your attentive planning! Sometimes you have to make the call,..and a great call you made as long as it fits with YOUR plan.

Who knows,..after tasting that newer beauty for awhile, you may be adding a dose of "visceral" to the stable.

Enjoy,..and best to you!

Re: Bid farewell to my first love today....

Nothin wrong with a 996 C4S. One of the best looking 996s. Widebody cars have a way of converting even the most staunch of 911 purists, especially when they see them in person.

Today, before I had even got plates on the car, I took her out for a quick spin and ended up right behind a 996 C4 cab on one of my favorite little twisty hill country roads. We proceeded to reenact "Red Barchetta" when another car joins the chase. Neither was denied.
