Replaced injectors - now idles at 2G
For all the wizards out there,
I know I'm not so good at this wrenchin' stuff, but this just seemed like too simple a project to send on to someone else! The car was running just a little rough and since it had 145K on the engine I decided to replace the injectors. It runs really smoothly now but I can't get it below 2,000 RPM. I don't want to run it too long at this idle, so before I go any further.... will this slow down once the engine realizes it has new arteries that are no longer clogged? BTW... it's a '77 2.7 Thanks to all, graybeard

maybe it runs on all the cylinders now. check if the throttle is closed all the way. see if the cruise cable is hanging up on it's bracket. pull the hose off the decel valve and see if the idle goes down. try just turning down the idle speed with the big screw on the left side of the throttle housing. the CO should be reset if you turn the idle speed screw much.

Thank you John,
I was thinking along those same lines, just needed some reassurance before I messed with anything else. The throttle is closed all the way, cruise cable is not a problem. Didn't want to wrench too much on the idle screw because I didn't want to mess with CO. After running for about 2 minutes it just dropped down to 850 RPM as though it had a choke opening. Now it runs smoothly and accelerates the way it should. Thanks again

Why does changing the idle effect the CO?
