Race car wiring expert/mentor needed
I figure there are race car wiring experts here or at least people that know much more about the subject from the direct experience standpoint.
Situation: I'm helping out a Bonneville car team (attended Speed Week 2011) with misc. projects and general pit crew type stuff. The owners are interested in redoing the wiring and getting some data collection put in place, I'm the only engineer on the team so they are looking at me to investigate. The current state of the wiring is terrible beyond belief but it barely works. E.g. they have a "kill" switch that opens the ground not the hot. That "works" but I'm not finding that setup to be typical. Anyway - I'd like to get some mentoring from someone that has real world experience. My first priority is to understand and document what we have now and make sure that is all solid and working before adding anything. It is easy to think I can figure this all out and do a perfect job, but I know better, experience is necessary to do a professional job, so I'm asking for assistance.
