Appreciating your 911

If you really want to appreciate your 911, drive a eight ton RV on a 2000 mile vacation.

Where's the "like" button?

I don't know where you drive your 911, but I feel very small on the roads of SoCal. Everything other than the Smart is way bigger...and even the Smart is a good amount taller than the 911.

One thing I enjoy about the 911 is how "roomy" the average parking space feels, compared to parking almost anything else.

Also, when driving I can stick my right arm out and touch the passenger door window sill without having to reach, and I'm only 5'10". Try that in any modern car.

They really are pretty small.

Okay... you think a 911 is small and low? How about a 914!

My 914 is as long as my 911's and a bit wider, but the roof line is MUCH lower overall. With the seats almost on the floor your butt is only about 8 - 10 inches off the pavement. But I worry more about the low roof line. I swear I am below the side window level of some SUVs. I don't know how they even see me.

+1
ALL new cars are gross - huge
start comparing when you see something old - I saw a Buick LeSable station wagon from like the 80's the other day, and the new Honda Accord next to it made the station wagon look SMALL!!

seriously everything now is just huge!

+1 on easy parking. I use my targa as a daily a lot in the summer and it is great to fit into parallel spots that the big SUVs can't.

But there is also the visibility issue when driving. Fixing my horn was one of my priorities. It's nice and loud and I'm not afraid to use it!

That's what I need to do asap.... fix my horn. It's failing and sounds like something you would expect of a golf cart.

Driving a civic everyday makes me appreciate the P-Cars when I have a chance to take them out.

My wife's daily driver is a diesel Ford Excursion with 4" lift and 35" tires. I hate driving it. Worst steering EVER!
It's been payed off for a long time and I can't get her to part with it. I've dubbed it the 'Queen Mary' because parking it is more like docking a large boat!

Small? Try a CRX Si which is my daily driver. And weirdly the roof height of the stock CRX is the same as my pretty well-lowered SC! But I don't even think about their sizes when driving though.

Loved the comment about modern cars being grossly large. I went and looked closely at the Pontiac Solstice when they came out and was amazed at it's huge "footprint" considering it's a two-seater with maybe enough "luggage" room for a small briefcase. Why, I wonder? Crashability? Just like society - obese!

When I moved from Colorado to Florida, I towed my 911 on a trailer behind our 20-foot moving van. Between Mississippi and Georgia and parts of Alabama we drove some of the most beautiful winding roads I've seen. It was SO HARD to drive through there with a 911 on a trailer behind me and not be able to stop and get it onto those roads on it's own wheels.

I BET!

How is Florida treating you, found another 911 yet?
