70T Marrelli Cap plug designation
Anyone have a diagram of the wire/cylinder numbers associated with the cap. I have a newer original distributor and cap from a 70K car and want to make sure the wires are on correctly. I am experiencing issues with the timing, when I hook up the light to number 4 wire the timing light is steady on the crank pulley but when I switch to #1 its jumps around, all over the place. I have been told that the CDI box either works or not. I have brand new Beru wires plugs ect. The olny thing I have not changed is the coil. This a barn find that sat for number of years, struggling to get the Zeniths in tune as well. I have driven 1000 miles so far, the old distributor acted the in the same fashion with number 1 bouncing, thats why I changed the wires and thought a newer distributor would help. The cap and rotor seem to be in good condition. Your advice and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Also is it possible to unbolt the crank pulley with the engine in the car, I think they may have installed it backwards, seems the 35 degree mark is on the instead on the right side? There are two engraved marks about 1 1/2" apart after the TDC mark and 5 degree mark. No Z1 indications on the pully from the side facing out.

Answered the last question, Pulley can only go on one way, the marks a divided by thirds for the values. Went to TDC and checked the wires on the cap there in the right position.
Hum Hum could something be causing interference only on number one wire? Why would the timing be smooth on 4 and all over the place on one? |
