Fog light question on '74
Hi guys - two questions if I may;
1) Did all '74s come with front fog lights or was that an option? OR, is this a by-product of my DPO fooling around with my car? 2) If factory, or a factory option, where on the dash should the dash pull switch be located? Thanks!

tdskip,
1) No, not all came with fog lights. The "correct" ones will have chrome housing and retaining ring. The later ones have a black housing. 2) The pull is located above the radio. My car is in storage so I can't go look, but I remember that the knob is either green, orange or yellow. Also, I can't remember if its the left-most or second one. Sorry, hopefully someone with better memory or a car handy will reply. Hope this is helpful. |

If they were an option, or dealer installed did they have an official knob on the dash or a flip switch near or above the ignition switch?

Could be either, depending on who installed them.

Typically switches above ignition are for power mirror adjustment selection (L or R)
and the sun roof operation C |

Thanks guys. Anyone have a part number for that blanking cap handy? Can't seem to find it on our host's site?

Unfortunately the "blanking cap" is actually a molded part of the dash. It gets punched out when the accessories are added to the vehicle.
Try a local hardware store for black plastic caps of the correct size. You could also just install a "dummy" switch in the space for the look... |

Curt -
Is the back of the fog lights you picture black or chrome? There are some for sale that have chrome fronts and black backs.

I have a 74 parts car and will give you a blanking cap gratis if I can remove it w/o destroying it. We 74s gotta stick together.

Ok, a little weirdness after looking at parts car dash. Instead of the usual blank insert that I've seen so often we have this... an alarm type indicator light in a recessed part of dash that is not removable.
![]() Maybe it's a ROW 74 dash as I see this outside celsius temp gauge? Paging Dr. Clay. ![]()
