MFI 1969 2.0 time switch
Hi, I need the part number, or the part referred to as the time switch, that activates the start solenoid for 2 secs whenever the engine is started. This is different from the thermo time switch.
Thank you, Fred |

Thanks Ron but that's the temp switch most all 911s have. I'm looking for the time limit switch unique to the 2.0 liter E and S with the 005 and 006 pumps. Hopefully someone has a 69 parts book and would look it up. Pelicans reference starts with 1970 and is no help.
Thanks for the reply, Fred |

Fred,
Maybe I'm confused, but the thermotime switch activates/controls the cold start solenoied on my '69. Same part number is listed on Pelican for 69-73 MFI systems. Description listed below. Thermotime Switches This sensor measures the temperature in order to best adjust the fuel mixture for warming up the car. 911-617-117-00-M100 Thermotime Switch On Chain Cover, For Cars With CIS And MFI, 911 (1969-73), Each Brand: Genuine Porsche [Photo]

Ron, You are correct as regards the COLD start. My question regards hot start or those starts when the engine is warm enough that the thermo switch 911 617 117 00 is out of the circuit to the enrichment solenoid. Reference, Porsche publication 4532.21, Porsche Mechanical Fuel Injection check measure adjust, page 4. "Time switch opens for 2 secs whenever engine is started" "Thermo time switch extends switch period of time switch between -13F and +50F". As I understand that section the time switch is separate from the thermo time switch, 911 617 117 00. The thermo time switch extends the period the enrichment solenoid is activated when the engine is cold. When the engine is warm, above 50F, the time switch activates the enrichment solenoid for 2 secs. On the same page under heading "Characteristic Features: Enrichment Solenoid controlled via a time limit relay" I believe this system is only used on the 1969 2.0 S and E Bosch pump 005 and 006. The 009 and 010 1970 model has no enrichment solenoid. Your thoughts?
Thank you, Fred |

Fred, I know this is an old thread, but just in case anyone is still looking for that info: the part number for that slow action relay is 901 617 115 00. It is the black cylinder bolted to the relay board above the relays in the engine compartment. Its corresponding relay is just below it.
It's supposed to delay the cutoff of the pump-mounted enrichment solenoid on the '69 to extend the enrichment time during cold warm-up I believe, otherwise the thermostat action is too fast (at least on the '69e I'm working on at the moment.)
