MFI (re)conversion on '69 911E
I have a '69 911E that currently has Webers. I have sourced all the necessary parts to convert back to MFI. Before launching the project I'm looking for any input fellow owners have on completing the conversion; benefits, pitfalls, regrets, satisfaction.
I currently get about 20-22 mpg city and 30+ mpg highway. The car is a PITA to start. Will that change? This is a numbers matching car, so I believe this will also improve the value. Tenatively plan on driving the car from Texas to Wash DC for the summer. Over ambitious or not? Thanks for any input you all might have! Matthew |

My 2c worth
make sure the pump, throttle bodies fuel lines and injectors are all serviced to factory specs. That will save a lot of headaches but still expect to do a bit of tweaking to get it running just right. Get a copy of the BOSCH MFI Manual - Check, Measure and Adjust. |
Mileage may suffer but it will start easier, pull more cleanly from lower revs and generally feel more responsive. Plus one on making sure the throttle bodies and butterflies are in good shape, throttle backstop castings intact, screw adjusters free to move, linkages OK.

Once you get it set up right you will be very happy with MFI. I have run mine with the MFI for 26 years. Once it was set properly I didn't have to touch it. As mentioned above, make certain the throttle bodies are in great shape (not just OK) as if they are worn, it will be difficult to impossible to get it to run right at idle/light throttle. I did get MPG in the high 20s but never 30 with the 2.0l.
