sweet above 6000rpm, lousy below

What would cause the engine to act like it's out of gas when it's hot and driven at constant speed, and then let the engine come alive when it gets over 6000 rpm?

For more information, visit this thread: 78SC engine problem - more info

I would also think it is the WUR. I have a problem with my 930 that won't run at light throttle in boost. Someone suggested the WUR. He also said that he would lend me one to see if that was the problem. That is what I suggest to you. Find a nice sole to lend you one. I have a spare that is from a 81 SC if you want to borrow it. I don't know if it is the same as yours.

Good luck

Porsche Crest

Have you checked the distributor advance curve? Stuck centrifugal weights will sometimes cause bottom end and midrange response problems.

Blown,

Nice offer. The part numbers are different: C-606-105-09 vs. C-606-105-08. I understood that to check the WUR just disconnect the vacuum hose. Is there another way to check it?

Early_S_Man,

I'm a babe to car care. This is my first one to work on (39 yrs old and just starting to have fun ). I'm starting to think the problem is electrical because it happens so consistently. I will look up distributor care in the 101 projects book.
