I thought since I'be got the distributor out and all the misc. stuff removed it might be a good time to put in a new set of plug wires. Lots of exagerated cliams on wires out there, anybody suggest the best for a sometimes DE mostly street 964? Are OEM as good as any?

I use Magnecore-great wires. Big, fat, overkill 10mm version.

I believe OEM is as good as any. I like the idea of replaceable ends, so retaining the Beru spark plug connectors and the Bosch distributor ends, I fabricated new wires between. I think there are many aftermarket sets that will work very well, but I did want to retain the plain copper conductors and the replaceable ends.

Thanks! I spoke with Magmecor but they do not have a set available for the 964 - bummer, So I opted for a set of Karlyn wires(at the suggestion of the magnecor guys) and got a great price from Darren at Pelican. These should be the same wires that cost a lot more from the usual catalog houses, I'll let you all know when they get here.
