spedometer cable?

so my car when I first take off wont register any speed until im up to like 20 then it gets with it. but on the highway I notiece it is up there in the 90 range? I am either going faster then I think. or there is a small problem. I am running 205 60 15 tires on stock rims. any thoughts? thanks

you need to say what year your car is.

You can also do a quick test on the highway using a stop watch and mile markers.

it seems like the car is like 20 miles fast. it says 90 and I am just a little slower then traffic. I just don't want to get a ticket in this little car.. since it is so fast anyways.. do I just need a new cable? where should I start? I did notice on the highway I got about 8/10ths of a mile so the spedometer is definately off

start by measuring the rolling circumference of the tires & use a GPS or smartphone app to get tru speed

I downloaded a spedometer app today. and the spedometer is exactly 10 mph off at 80 and upwords.. etc. at 30 mph it is roughly 5 miles off. I had it to 120 on the highway the other day. dumb me. it still had some poop left.. I would go to jail around here at those speeds.. still sound like a spedo cable?
