2.7 gauges - 3.2 engine
 

I was wondering if my 1977 gauges will work with a 1988 3.2??? Thanks for your help!!!

The tach will not, and I don't think the oil temperature gauge will work either.

The oil temp. gauge is an easy fix, as you can just put the earlier sensor in the engine. I think the sensor is $40 or so.

The tach on the other hand will either have to be shipped out, or you'll have to find a Carrera gauge to fit in there.

IIRC, it was my oil pressure sender that wasn't compatible. For me, I installed a "Carrera" tach.

The 0-340F 77 temp gauge needs 911.606.112.00 (fitted to 77 MY-only 2.7s, 78-up 3.3 930s and 3.2s)

It's the 74-76 0-300F temp gauge that needs the 901.641.632.00 sender (fitted to 74-76 2.7s, 75-77 3.0 930's and SCs).

You would ideally want a 10 bar sender for the '77 0-140 PSI pressure gauge - as the 3.2's only got 5 bar gauges, the 3.2 sender (911.606.135.00) is most likely 5 bar; you need the 10 bar sender 911.606.111.01. Worst that happens is that the pressure reads low (e.g. full-scale deflection at 5 bar, instead of 10 bar).

I'd be surprised if the '77 tach didn't work, personally. But that happens a fair bit, so heh :)

The only gage I needed to change on my 1973 was the speedometer since I used the '86 tranny with electronic sensor. The oil pressure, temperature, and tachometer worked perfectly with the '86 sensors.

I have been through 2 late model into early model conversions. Just match the gage or sensor scale to the dash instrument. Check the treads for some really good info. IMHO Shops like North Hollywood Speedo can be a great source of simple scale corrections and proper sensor selection. My oil temp was way off(low) with the 83 930/10 and I had to change sensors to get close enough to be confident with the dash reading. 'Tachs & speedo's can be changed to suit the distributor/motor/trans as mentioned above. Also, I suggest getting the speedo calibrated because tickets are getting very expensive these days even for 6-10 over the limit. The 3.2 will make it very easy to go too fast. A speeding ticket here costs $300- $500(plus $50-$100 for traffic school) on the canyon roads. A 3.2 in a 77 will certainly give some surprises for the red light GP opposition expecting a 2.7 US SMOG motor. :cool:
