Plug-end connectors are not replaceable like Beru's, but they are well made and sealed from moisture, so I don't think they will cause any problems for many years.

They look better that I would have guessed. Really adds a nice contrast to all the black plastic and aluminum. I bet they'd pass the H2O test a lot better that your old Beru's.

The path of least resistance that I was referring to was the one that Beru ignition cables become due to the high resistance spark plug connector that is placed at the end of the circuit. The entire length of stranded copper conductor, which is what the Beru ignition cables are made of, is now a path of least resistance as compared to the spark plug end. In other words, the high voltage spark would have an infinitely higher affinity to ground within the entire length of copper ignition wire compared to high resistance of the plug end. Why would the spark go to the spark plug blocked by a high resistance connector when the Beru wires make it an easy shorcut to ground?

That's why Beru cables have a difficult time when it comes to the old H20 test compared to carbon core cables. Another reason not to touch Beru cables with the engine running, where as conventional cables do not present the same problem.

An easy way to prove this point without endangering your life is to spray water from a garden hose on your Beru cables on your distributor and valve covers while your engine is running. Does it keep purring? Now try this on any engine with conventional carbon core ignition cabes which just happens to be the majority of cars and see what happens. You might be surprised to see how the majority of engines with conventional cables will continue to purr like nothing has happened.

This might just be the best reason to go to Magnacors.

Matt, I've been hit several times too with my Beru cables. But since I switched to these carbon core Autolites, I haven't had any problems. I can grab hold of them with wet hands anytime while the engine is running without getting zapped.

You'd be crazy to try that on a set of Beru's.

Geof, did you intend to route your wires the way you did? The stock configuration has them going over the fan strap as in the previous picture.

This how they were done in 84. This is the only year they did this. Make sure if you order the wires order the ones from magnecore direct as they ARE a different length. I used the stock holders drilled to 5/16" to accomodate the diameters. Pretty easy job really. Just did one wire at a time.

I personally prefer this setup, just looks cleaner. I'm sure there was some reason for the change, I just don't know what it would be. Maybe less exposure to heat off of the heads???

I also replaced the wires on my 1984 with Magnecore. Look great. Pelican can get then but you have to ask for them to be special ordered. Their parts listing is in error.
