Lack of 993 board action

I have been following the 993 board, and notice that it is not even a fraction as busy as the 911 board. I owe everyone on this board for helping me get the SC in shape, I am worried that if I ever save enough for the 993 I won’t have nearly the same support and camaraderie. Why do you guys think that there is not as much interest / action on the 993 board?

Probably because the 993 models are too new to develop any "real" trouble spots yet. But heck, Brian is now welcome here...you are too.

I dunno Bud, maybe 993's are too new and most 993 owners take their cars to the shop vs. DIY. Most of my surfing is done here on the 911 board because it's really interesting and the people are fun. Another reason is that I'm also looking at getting my wife an early 911 or a LWB 912, so this is a great place for me to learn a few things...

Does that include me, too?

As much as I hate to say it "told you so". Remmember all the debates, guys, about splitting up this BBS.

One more thing, Bud. I met some great local Pelicanheads at the Richard Leshander engine drop / clutch replacement "party" hosted by maresq. After that experience, I wouldn't be too intimidated to do my own engine drop, even given the extra junk packed into the 993 engine bay. I wouldn't expect to have had this great experience if I was focused on the 964/993-specific board, since not many folks there are into dropping their engines and changing their own clutches. OK, now I'll relinquish the soapbox to the next speaker.

I would have to say aside from many mechanical differences, the 993 and 911 are about the same experience. I would suggest that most DIY jobs can be researched in the 993 technical articles. I would also suggest this site for more 993 research www.p-car.com it offers a lot of good reading and more. IMO the 911 and 993 share the same interests and concerns. Enjoy!
