Anyone know the best way to get a seized spark plug out of #6? It backs out so far...then VERY hard to turn. Afraid to give it the torque!

The moves you make next could be expensive. Bruce Anderson (I think it was Bruce) wrote something about this problem and gave suggestions. I'll look for it. His basic suggestion is to take your time. If it takes you a week to get that thing out, you are still FAR better off than if you stripp the threads.
There are probably carbon deposits at the ends of the threads that are too wide to exit the combustion chamber. I'd say back it out as far as you can, spray your favorite penetrant on, then screw back in and wait. Do this several times if necessary. Are you using the factory spark plug tool? My regular spark plug socket (not the factory tool) cannot fit through the #6 opening with a spark plug in it. ------------------ '83 SC |

The exposed end (threads)are probably covered in carbon and is binding on the threads in the cyl head.I would try and thread the plug out until it starts to bind and then thread it back in a bit and then back out,keep doing this and eventually the carbon should loosen up and the plug should start backing out.take your time and don't try to torque it out as I think you will damage the threads

I think you would be wise to find some spray Penetrating Oil, and NOT WD-40!!! Back the plug out as far as normal 'force' will allow, then spray quite a bit of the penetrating oil down into the opening with nozzle/tube parallel to the axis of the plug and offset from the center of the opening ... top, bottom, left, right (1-2 seconds each position) of what would be the center of the spark plug electrode connector. Then let it sit overnight ... next, turn the spark plug back down to its' normal seating position, and back it out once more until resistance is felt, spray again with penetrating oil, and let it sit another day/night. Repeat until the plug comes out all the way without excessive force.
