A tardy introduction
I have been on this site for several months now and realized that I had not formally introduced myself so I thought I'd better correct this forum faux pas. OK, so I've owned my 83 Cab triple black for almost eight months now, I've lusted for a Porsche for years when last July my wife and I were checking out all the Porsches at P2O in Granville Ohio hosted by MORPCA the mid-ohio regional Ohio Porsche association. So I inquire (not knowing much about Porsches as to what years were good and how much I'd have to cough up for one. This guy I'm talking to sez that the late 70's-early 80's are going up in value and might be a good first car. So my wife(whom I love very much) sez, "why don't you buy one"? Well, I say. You think I should? She sez, HELL yes. She has alterior motives, likes a manual trans as much as I do. So the next day I'm looking at a 84 Carrara I see on ebay. I take a pass on her, but I get to drive her and I'm hooked. Eventually I locate one on CraigsList up in Michigan (this is enemy territory if you are from Ohio and especially if you work at Ohio State whereI do). She's been a garage queen for too long and needs to be on the road (I'll remedy that problem). Anyway, over the last eight months I've taken care of all the major issues and planning on going to Hersey in a few weeks where hopefully I can meet some other "Pelicanites". I already met Tony Denato last month when he was in Ohio. I'll be wearing my Pelican T shirt and will be keeping my eye's peeled for others. I have included a few pictures from last fall. Since then Harvy W has refinished my wheels and she is riding on RE11's.

Nice Car. I think some of us will meet around noon at the Crab-cake place. You can't miss it.

Aloha Wolds, That is a very nice looking ride you have there. Plus a keeper wife, with that supportive attitude.
Nice to have you join us here. Cheers Richard |
Welcome!...love the 3/black color
regards, |
I always thought these were the best looking of the 911 cabriolets, and your car being a first year for the cabriolet car is all the better. Looks like the best colour combo too.
Good choice on the RE-11s, great tires for a great car. As for the wife, well done. My gf is equally supportive of the Pcar passion. I've had experiences where the partner wasn't. Guess that's why those relationships didn't work out! |
Beautiful!

Nice ride.

The crab shack is right at the swap meet. It's a concession stand.

Got it, thanks

Nice ride & great story Warren!
Still got mine up on jacks. I'll be calling you soon. BTW, with the cab, do you drive it in the wet/snow months? I think you do. Any issues with that? Gary |
Great car! I'll have my '83 cab at Hershey, too.

Hi Gary,
Mine was on jackstands up until last weekend. Finally got my wheels back from Harvey W, it was well worth the wait. He does fantastic work. No, I won't be driving it while there is snow on the ground unless I get an exceptionally nice day with no salt on the streets. Quote:

That is a nice Cab! I have an '84 Cab that I bought in December and have already put over a thousand miles on it. I'd have put on more but for the weather in Seattle. Best money I ever spent on myself! Post some current pix with the redone wheels.

Beautiful car! But we need pics with the roof down. That's how they were meant to be looked at. :-)
|
Bonus that it is a RoW SC. Should have the 204 HP 930/10 motor. Nice find!
|
Yes, it does have the 204hp 930/10. The real nice thing is that I have the original owners manual that shows the car being titled to the original owner (in Germany)in March of 83 and then the transfer in December 83 with 1200KM on the odometer to Bill Cook Porsche Audi of Farmington Hills Michigan. I know that the history on these RoW cars can sometimes be mirky with respect to mileage and how the car was imported, but this car was done right. Only none original equipment is the Momo wheel and the kenwood stereo that I just installed. I have the original Blaupunkt if I ever wanted to reinstall and I was thinking I'd try to pick up a used wheel at Hersey just to tuck away for future.
