An Update! *pics*

I went down to the Body Shop to visit my car today.

There were only a few little annoying things wrong with the car, like dents, scratches etc and a slight modicum of rust on the scuttle plate (where the wipers "grow" from).

All of it has been attended to and the car is now being prepped for painting. They're wetsanding and cleaning and stripping some of the old paint.

The muffler survived the accident intact. It is damaged, but it's also quite rusty and the decision is to replace it. I've ordered a new Monty and it's on it's way.

Progress!

Is the scuttle plate the only panel with any rust?

Yeah, the car checked out perfectly on the jig. The only rust in the whole car was on that scuttle plate and it totalled less than the size of a dime! It was bubbling the paint slightly, though, so it certainly needed attention.

It's refreshing to see that progress is being made. I've been told to expect the car back by next Friday, so I'm happy. Even if it takes an extra week - I don't want to rush them!

You might notice there's only one muffler strap. It's just jury-rigged into place while the Monty is on order.

That's great news! Glad your car is better than it seemed. These are indeed tough cars.

Adam,

What kind of tires do you have on the rears? They look like the Pirelli P8000 Vizzolas I had on my Saab. Haven't seen nor heard of many others with those tires.

Chris.

Chris,

They're 205/60-15 Pirelli P5000 Dragos. They are awesome in the wet, yet grippy and quiet in the dry. I'm happy with them, except I should have bought 205/55-15. I'll be getting at least two in that size for the front.
