Anyone been to Techno Classica Essen? How does it work?

Have a last minute trip to the Netherlands coming up for work and wanted to duck out to see Essen for a bit. Has anyone been? Recs on where to stay? Will it be possible to find a place this late? Should I take the train? Rent a car?

Thanks,

Derek

I'll be there on the 11th, but I've never been before. I'm doing a big vacation before I leave Germany. Everything around Essen is booked I think we are 40 minutes away. I'm driving, but I live in Germany. Sorry I'm not much help.

Where will you be in Holland..?

I'd say rent a car and drive to Essen, it's not far....

The show is open to the public from Thursday to Sunday.

If you like old Porsches, this show is a must see..

Have fun,

-Maurice

Stay in the Netherlands and drive the rental up to Essen.

Wear comfortable shoes. It is huge.

Stay away from the Bratwurst sold by the "fixed" eating places. Use the mobile ones, or better yet the ones outside of the halls.

One day will allow you to do the tour but you will not have the time to reflect on anything for more then 5 minutes.

Buy advance tickets for the first day (if still possible) yes it is more expensive but you will not have to crowd surf.

I find that the prices are a bit sillly when at Essen. If you want to buy best is to do after the show.

Do not forget the parking lot. It is a show on its own.

I do not believe there is anything better outside of Classica for the enthousiast. Ok forgetting Goodwood for a moment. But that is different.

Take your pills. You will be depressed/extatic after seeing all that lovely classic metal.

Leave your wife home.
