I started with a 951 (911 turbo) and then moved to a 3.2 Carrera, now I have a 930 (911 Turbo). I have owned or (driven extensively) bimmers, mustangs, benzes, vettes, and none feel like the Porsches. I think I liked the way my 951 drove better than the 3.2 but it didn't have the soul the 911 has. I got the best of both worlds with the 930. You don't have to compromise on a trashed interior or bad body. With an SC you should be able to get a very solid car for under $15,000. People love to talk about cars that bring big $ but most cars sell for reasonable prices. I sold my very solid (but not perfect)1985 targa for $18,500. It had 89k. FYI. Here is the car I sold. https://www.icloud.com/journal/#2;CAEQARoQrH96_78Hqi962FjfqC8ONg;F92CE77E-F78F-479D-8FBB-2BED2EEDF22B

Thanks Thomas

Are there any other strong online classifieds worth looking at in my price range besides here, ebay and craigslist?

When I bought my 3.2 in 2009 I found it on Craigslist. It was a local car and he was asking $17,900 I think. I should not have been looking at cars at that time because I was in a job transition but it was a nice car. It had been for sale for awhile and the seller had a few buyers flake at the last minute. The car was a bit if an oil burner and I suspected it was nearing needing a rebuild. Another potential buyer had passed after a leak down test yielded 1 cylinder with an inconsistent reading. So I offered him $13,700 thinking he would say no. He took it. I drove the car for 8,000 miles and put $3500 worth of maintenance and repairs and had the seats re-covered for $1500. I basically broke even but got 3 years of use. I disclosed the oil burning (about 500 miles per quart) when I sold it.

I advertised it on pelican, Craigslist and excellence. Sold in 3 weeks. I would also look at that other forum (don't want to name names). One good way to find cars IMHO is to talk to the shops around you. Sometimes they know folks who are "thinking about selling".
