'88 Commemorative Edition brochure...

Several years ago, I scanned the above brochure (I think it was in PDF format), and emailed it to quite a few fellow owners. A new member has requested a copy, so I figured one of you might still have it readily available (I used gmail at the time, but cleared those archives out a few months ago ). Thanks all!

ps: Yazhound is the newest member of the CE club...Welcome!

Thanks for looking out Keith.!

That was nice of you to make the shout out on my behalf. Sure do love my car.

Slowly getting it into shape. Interior rough a bit but livable. It is my usual daily driver now. No rains days if it can be helped.

Do you know whether autobahn interiors can redo (or partially redo) the seats without besmirching the uniqueness of the car?

Oddly, I used to own an Acura that was called Palmy Blue that was very close to our color. ... Just destined to own a car of this hue!

Thanks again. yaz (not the birth control lol)

Not to detract from the essence/matter of this post,....but wanted to quickly tell of my first meeting with Yaz,....being a Maconite (as Yaz is) it IS a bit special, to me,..in so many ways.

It was at one of the oldest "gas stations" in Macon, GA. Yaz was a customer of good old "John-D"'s (as I) and this is where our paths crossed...conversations ultimately lends themselves to BIG music lovers (similar music, I would add)...having worked in the music industry a bit, we shared old stories of hanging with "old" bands,..I found out he "understood" RUSH,....was/is a guitar player, so we had that in common, as players, past/present,.....then the bigee: he owns a Basenji !!! Not many peeps can stake this claim, as it's a relatively rare breed to come across,..the owners of such a semi-domesticated dog are unique unto themselves,....man,.it just can't get better,..swap numbers and recently hear of his tribulations with an intermittent no-start condition,..the kind that resolves with a "tap" of the DME. Most know what this means, at least, primarily,....SO:

looking forward to YAZ's appearance at the office tomorrow to conduct an inspection of his DME!!!! I suspect we'll be re-flowing a few KEY solder points, at minimum. Then see what shakes thereafter.

Looking forward to seeing you again, my friend. Hopefully, we'll see something that is "suspect".

Time will tell...

Back to the regularly scheduled program...

I'd be damned sure to take your time on the seat redo's, as you want that to be right. I can ask my upholster how they handle the "signature seats" (bet that's a bit tricky) to get their take. Which section of the seat are you interested in redoing?

Pics?

Hey, I'm a Rush fan too! But I don't have a Basenji. Thanks again for the pdf's, Yaz.

COOL, Porschenut! Big RUSH fan (disciple) here, for sure!

Spoke with YAZ today, as he dropped his DME off with me,..good to see him again, for sure, He OK'd my posting of some pics of his DME, knowing this thread isn't really pointed to what we were looking at. So,..on that note:

Yaz had an intermittent no-start issue with his prized '88. He ultimately found that a tapping of the DME would allow a start condition. She's been starting fine since the "tap" (having already changed out the dme relay, previously). She, apparently, has been starting perfectly since the "tap".

I suggested (to YAZ) that we look for connectivity issues, particularly related to DME solder connections that may be fractured or cold. Off we go:

Yaz delivers the DME to me today and I have a look. All of the fprovided pics are prework photo shots, BTW. Note, that although an EE, I'm NOT a DME Expert (there's a difference) but have had several successful repairs that did not involve a large degree of complexity...in any case,...some pics to share:

More to come...

still:

That's all I have! Forgot to get the shot of the loaded chip (but was found to be stock).

YAZ: don't be alarmed at the "caramel-looking stuff",..that's NOT an issue, at all,...

But (to everyone), please study the areas that are relatively obvious, as to fracture/cold joints.

Clearly,..these were re-flowed.

Am awaiting Yazz's response on his installation of the box (I certainly won't sleep tonight until I know we're (at least) where we started (cranking).

Best!

BTW,...there was a sticker on the DME that denoted it was a REMAN..I couldn't make out "who".

The PCB looked like it possibly had one of it's IC's changed out for repair,...very clean work...other areas had been serviced, as well. I'll have to review the circuit again, but did see one component that was coated a bit,...it didn't look like electrolytic-type fluid but was on a component that I believe to be an electrolytic cap.....(I'll have to confirm this, of course,..as I don't yet know, for sure). Should that be the case,....I'd recco' changing out this component...

Sorry guys,..I realize this was originally "brochure-related", but Count Yaz has blessed the pic's placements...hope it doesn't aggravate anyone.

BEST!

YAZ,

Sorry to hear of the no-start. Clearly, it's time for the DME to be sent out. I'll drop by today and pick yours' up,..get it sent to the proper people today (FedEx Overnite),..fully turnkey, buddy.

Will update you with tracking information then we'll hurry up and wait. When done, at least we'll own a "rule-out" of a marginal DME.

Thanks for playing, YAZ!

BEST!

Per your request, here's pics of the other Basenji

last pic being his PUP pic from many years back.

For those wondering what in the world those previous destruction pics were about, I had spoken to Yaz about having (mistakenly) left one of the Basenjis outside while we went out for the evening. BIG MISTAKE....as demonstrated in those pics....that framework was SCREWED into the wall,....unbelievable destruction these dogs can produce...

Sorry to get so off topic to the thread, guys. My apologies,..all done here with dog pics.

Enjoy Yaz! That tri-color male is named "Geddy Lee",..and no, he doesn't play any bass guitar.

BEST!

Doyle
