Bump Steer Question?

Has anyone used the SmartRacing or other bump steer correction kits where a spacer is used between the steering knuckle and the rod end? Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Yep.

I installed a bump steer kit from PP. (Think it was a Weitmeister item??).

Can't say ita made much difference and I had trouble with the steering shaft being forced upwards which I think had the reaction of destroying the plastic bushing in my steering column. It could be coincidence but it all happened at the time I intsalled the bump kit.

So my point is that if you do decide to do the instal, loosen off the shaft at the flexible coupling, give it some lubricant to free it up then install the kit. Don't forget to tighten up the coupling after.

Others have said they notice the difference and had no trouble with the instal so again maybe its just me

If its important mine is a 87 lowered at the front 10mm lower than Euro spec. I think (forgotten but thats my recollection)

Cheers

i think the question is about the other type, using drop links(?).

they're expensive, but i've heard from others (including jack o who uses them?) that they really work and transform the steering/handling.

i'm gonna get some with turbo tie rods.

i personally don't like the washer method.

I haven't used either, have a SC lowered to 25 1/2 and 25, and have not problems with bump steer. There are a couple methods, the washer type under the steering rack and the drop link type. Never heard of the type you mentioned. The drop link type is $$$.

I believe Jack Olsen installed the drop link type and has given it rave reviews and has recommended it after some pretty good track testing. May be worth looking into or contacting Jack O about.

i get the impression that this is mostly the case. my car feels ok. its real low. i think its one of those things when what you've got feels ok, but when you try the mod, it makes an amazing difference.

i hope so anyway
