Are these SSI's (photos)

Hello all,

I'm looking at a car (from afar) and it has early heat exchangers or SSI's - curious if anyone can identify them from these two pics.

I the second pic has a part number that starts with SSI but that might be wishful thinking.

Thanks in advance!

Yep, look like SSIs to me too. That number visible in the lower shot looks like it starts with SSI xxxx.

That's what my SSIs have.

the way the shell has a gap around the 3 pipes is unlike the way SSIs are built. they look stock.

They look like SSI's that need a good scrubbin' while you're down there the CV boot looks a little wonky too.

I noticed that too, but wonder if that's as a result of too much off-roading?

As for concensus, we have 3 for, one against, but John's vote carries more weight. Anyone care to break the tie?

Most things about the car are a little wonky.... but it's a good solid starting point for a resto, and the price is right.

If you give me a few minutes I'll take a pic of my SSI's so you can do all the stare and compare you want. Pictures carry the most weight.

Hey, thanks, but that shouldn't be necessary, I've found lots of pics of SSI's but these two pics are all I have to compare with and they aren't very good....

Stare away.
EDIT: sorry got your reply after I'd gotten out from under the car. I won't bother to flip and repost then.

looking again, the second pic shows lack of all 3 access holes, which is the SSI style, so i guess they may be. off road specials.

Last of the made in USA SSI........

You are looking at the last few ones SSI made in USA. It is a piece of art. Why are there only 2 access holes instead of 3?

Well since you guys love pics, I couldn't help sharing mine after I scrubbed them for so long. They're a little beat up but still worth lookin at.
