Ruf Wheels ID?

They look like chromed Borbet Cup 1 replicas. But I thought I would check.

They are stamped 17 x 9 and 17x10. Usually the Cup 1 wheels are 17 x 9 for the rears. I think the 17 x 9.5 Cup 1's may have been used on the Cup cars.

Not important....just curious, there is a local guy selling them for $5000.

Caution on chromed alloy wheels - the plating has a tendency to peel. Especially if you are in an area where they salt the roads. A friend of mine has plated aluminum wheels on his SL Mercedes - always peeling - even after he had them redone. Polished aluminum is the way to go for that look (IMHO)

They do look like late-offset (964 up) Ruf wheels; as you say, very similar in appearance to Cup 1's. If they're not 964 (late) offset, then they're not Ruf.

Here's a set of Ruf's from a 965 with good photos for comparison:
RUF Speedline 8.5x18 & 10x18 Fits C-2 & up

964 Ruf wheels are generally not considered very desirable, partly because the offset isn't correct for early cars (so you need spacers to correct ET) and partly because they're not Classics. I've never seen them fetch the prices that the early-offset Classics (with the flat face and the dish) do - and $5000 was what the last run of Classics were selling for new.

Chromed? Heck no.

I enlarged a photo. It looks like they may say "Ruf Speedline". Hard to tell for sure, but it probably says that.

They are more than likely real Ruf wheels that were chromed at $5000!

i had those on my 89 C-4. offset is all wrong for earlier cars. $5K is way too much and the chrome kills them.

I have zero interest in them. Was curious. $5000 would be spent on many other things, not those.
