Lloyd's floormats to use with RS carpets? Please post pics if you can.
I want to order new floor mats for my '83 to protect the new RS carpet set with Rennline footboards I installed. I don't want to get mats that cover the footboards as that would defeat the purpose. Lloyd's makes some rubber mats that look good but I can't tell from the website what the pattern really looks like. In fact there is a big disclaimer that says the pattern shown is general and may not be specific to what you actually order.
Does anyone know if there is a particular model year (like early '70s) that would work? If anyone has any pics that would be a huge help. There doesn't appear to be an RS option. I see Lloyd has a custom option but I'd rather not go that route if possible. Thanks in advance! |
I'm interested in doing the same thing. I'm in the process of installing an RS carpet. I purchased the Rennline footboards and like the look of them exposed, problem is the new lloyd mats I have which are very nice cover them up. I hate to cut them, but think I might have to in order to get the look I want. I was wondering if I made a small cut in the lloyd mat where the footboard bolts down I might be able to run the mats right up underneath? I'm interested to hear/see what other have done. Thanks

Here's what I did. For the carpets (not the mats) I notched a hole in them where the bracket goes through. Since I had two additional layers - 1/4" CCF and MLV - it made the thickness a problem to begin with. I couldn't get enough thread depth. So I went to a local store that specializes in fasteners and I found a coupling nut. I am away from home for a few days, otherwise I would take a picture. You could try something similar. My problem is that the thickness is already an issue and I want something that will protect the new carpet that can be taken out and cleaned. If you do go this route, use an Xacto knife with a fresh blade. Measure twice and cut once.
