rebuild MFI fuel pump O-rings
Having read as many of the posts here on rebuilding my fuel pump, I decided to tackle it. It is a 72 MFI pump 0-580-970-001
I went to my local bearing place which had a great selection of O-rings. The larger O-ring is 2" x 2-3/16 x 3/32. You need 2 of the smaller 1-3/16 x 1-3/8 x 3/32. All of the O-rings are round. I did not find the O-ring at the electrical connection. The pump did not leak but it did overheat. I will take it apart again to discover what is wrong. Tom

Interesting Tom, i'm trying to rebuild mine as well at the moment. I'll be interested to learn what caused the overheating?

The fuel pump is cooled by the fuel fowing through it. I would think it must have run low on fuel and I would check the gas tank and lines and filter screens.
